How is security ensured in Internet Banking? What must I take into consideration while using it? I get a message that says "An error occurred in the secure channel support". What should I do?

Security in Internet Banking can be analyzed under two main headings:

The first one is the security of the hardware, software and the network that we utilize to offer this service. For this purpose, we use network products that have been tested for security under various conditions.
The second one is the security of the network traffic while you are using our service. The security of the network traffic consists of 4 main components:

  • Authentication
  • Authorization
  • Non-Repudiation
  • Data Protection

The first two of these four components are essential in enabling our authorized customers to perform transactions. For this, Internet Banking users must go through various security steps before logging to Internet Banking.

Customer No is a unique user-specific number that each Garanti Bank customer has.
Password is the security code that the user defines after logging to Internet Banking for the first time. It consists of 6-8 numbers and letters.
User Code: Users who are corporate customers must go through another security step. The user code is the individual customer number given to the user by the bank.
Our users must go through these security steps in order to perform transactions in Internet Banking.
The third component which is non-Repudiation is ensured through the agreement signed between the customer and the bank at the time of the application.
For the fourth component which is data protection, the SSL protocol is used. SSL ensures the confidentiality and the integrity of the traffic between two parties through encryption. The SSL protocol is a protocol supported by all major internet servers and browsers. SSL ensures that the data sent can only be decrypted at the right address. Before being sent, the data is encrypted and can only be decrypted by the intended recipient. Through verification on both sides, the confidentiality and the integrity of the transaction and the data. The strength of the encryption method employed in data transmission depends on the length of encryption key that is used. Key length is extremely important in data protection. In the SSL protocol, 40-bit and 128-bit encryption is used. In 128-bit encryption, there are 2128 different keys thus breaking the encryption is unfeasible in terms of time and cost.

    First of all, you have to submit an application by logging on to Internet Banking and going to the Dashboard Settings step PIN / Password section Definition for Quick Loign with Mobile Signature.

    Verification via SMS is the method of getting your verification via SMS for the money transfers, information updates, and payments that are made through Internet Banking.
