Garanti became the first Turkish bank to get an A rating for Sustainability Reporting
Garanti Bank became the first Turkish bank to receive an A level application check from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) for its Sustainability Report that addresses its sustainability performance in all aspects. The report that details how the bank integrated environmental/social factors and corporate management principles into business processes during the 18-month period starting January 2011 will be made available to the public by the end of April.
Speaking on the subject, Garanti Bank CEO Ergun Özen said, “We at Garanti Bank have taken many steps in the field of sustainability for years. Recently, we adopted a much more systematic approach to address this issue and developed new policies and business processes dealing with the environmental and social impacts. The first comprehensive Sustainability Report we put together through plenty of hard work received approval for Level-A from the Global Reporting Initiative. Through this report, we will be able to communicate to our stakeholders the destination at which we have arrived as a result of our efforts and our future plans to further improve our sustainability performance”
