Three international awards for Garanti’s 2008 annual report

GarantiBank’s 2008 annual report created from 100% recycled paper and environment-friendly materials was the recipient of three international awards in recognition of the bank’s nature-conscious approach.

In the “Banking” category of the Annual Reports Vision Awards organized by the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP), Garanti’s 2008 annual report was the recipient of the LACP Silver Vision Award. The League of American Communications Professionals was established in 2001 as a forum for the discussion of best practices by professionals in the public relations industry. Annual reports published by total of 3,500 firms from 22 countries were considered in the competition. Approximately 40% of these companies are cited in the Forbes Global 2000 annual ranking of the top 2000 public companies in the world based on their sales, profits, assets, and market value.

Garanti’s 2008 annual report was also the recipient of two awards in the Annual Report Competition (ARC Awards) organized by MerComm Inc, an independent organization committed to defining excellence in the communications field and to acknowledging those whose work has made an outstanding contribution to their organization. In the “International Banks” division, Garanti received an honorable mention of the “Overall Annual Report” category and a silver award in the “Green / Environmentally Sound Annual Report” category. ARC awards, which are regarded as the “Oscars” of the annual report industry, have been handed out for 23 years. Annual reports are judged on the values of creativity, clarity, effectiveness, and excellence as symbolized by the ARC Awards. Every year entries from about 60 countries are submitted for ARC Award consideration.

A prime sponsor of the Turkish Society for the Conservation of Nature (WWF-Türkiye) since 1992, Garanti gives priority to environmental concerns in the conduct of all of its banking and non-banking activities. This same environmental awareness was naturally incorporated into the design and production of the bank’s 2008 annual report, which was printed on 100% recycled paper and using environment-friendly materials. By executing its graphic design make maximum use of page dimensions and minimize discards, Garanti achieved economies of up to 80% compared with its previous year’s report.
