Expat Mortgages from Garanti.

Mortgage Expert Garanti has launched its “Expat Mortgage” product designed for those who live abroad but want to have a home in their own country. Garanti offers Turkish lira-based and FX-indexed mortgages to finance the purchase of residential properties in Turkey by Turkish citizens who reside abroad. Garanti Expat Mortgages can provide financing of up to TRL 500,000 or the equivalent in another currency on terms of up to 240 months.

In his announcement concerning the introduction of Expat Mortgages Garanti Mortgage General Manager Cemal Onaran said “We’re aware of how much Turkish citizens living abroad want to be homeowners in Turkey. But because the great majority of them live, work, and earn abroad however, they don’t qualify for mortgages in Turkey. That’s why we came up with the Expat Mortgage concept to meet their particular needs. Thanks to this new Garanti product, they’ll be able to become homeowners in their own homeland through GarantiBank. That’s because our team is always on the lookout for our customers’ different and changing needs and coming up with credit opportunities that are just right for them. We intend to continue offering everyone the best possible mortgage products.”

Documents needed to apply for an Expat Mortgage

  • Application form
  • Tax registration number
  • Assessor’s report for the property to be mortgaged
  • Copy of Turkish passport or Turkish identity card
  • Statement of income in country of residence, three-month bank account statement, credit card / loan servicing statement
  • Credit standing report by a credit reference agency in country of residence (eg SCHUFA in Germany, BKR in Holland, etc)
  • Copies of evidence of residence abroad (electricity or telephone bills, etc)
  • Photocopy of the deed to the property to be mortgaged
  • If married, spouse’s statement of consent.
